Happy Mother's Day

Wishing everyone a wonderful Mother's Day tomorrow!! My daughter is having brunch at her home. I'm really looking forward to that. I rather do that than go to a restaurant and deal with all those crowds and be rushed. We will be able to sit and eat and talk and relax. Hopefully next week I will have some new projects to share with all of you. Thanks and have a great weekend!!!!!

Very Primitive Uncle Sam!!

Today I finished painting a new pattern for Painting With friends. It's called Very Primitive Uncle Sam. The pattern will be available next week at http://www.paintingwithfriends.blogspot.com/
This is a Terrye French design that she painted a few years ago and never made a pattern for it. She gave me permission to paint it how I wanted and make a pattern pack. I chose this canvas case to paint the design on. After I finished painting it I decorated the top with Americana ribbon, some sweet Annie, and sprigs of red berries. If your interested in the pattern check the website next week. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Don't forget to have a look at the new holiday designs from Painting With Friends . This is the one I painted called Santa's Old Socks. There are alot more by many talented artist. www.paintingwithfriends.blogspot.com

Tutorial For Sock Ornaments

These are the sock ornaments I made for Santa's Old Socks tree I did for " Painting With Friends". It's a fun project.  All you need is a wooden sock cutout, Mod Podge, scissors, acrylic paint, fabric, and a paint brush.  Lay the sock cutout on top of the fabric and trace around it with a pencil or marker. Now cut it out with your scissors. Pour out some Mod Podge and apply it to the top of the cutout. While it's still wet lay the fabric cutout on top of the wet Mod Podge. Smooth it out and apply more Mod Podge over the fabric. Let it dry completely. I use a hair dryer to speed things along. Now it's time to paint. I used Antique White acrylic paint to do the top, heel, toe of the sock. When that is dry shade around those areas with Traditional Burnt Umber. Make the small stitch marks with a fine tip black marker. Now you can paint a design in the middle if you wish. I did a snowman face, stars, a Christmas tree, and a wreath. You could paint whatever you wish. You could also use a small stencil.  Drill a hole at the top and I used thin jute for hanging. It's a fun project and you could use any shape cutout you wish. Thanks and have fun crafting!!!!
