Tutorial For Sock Ornaments

These are the sock ornaments I made for Santa's Old Socks tree I did for " Painting With Friends". It's a fun project.  All you need is a wooden sock cutout, Mod Podge, scissors, acrylic paint, fabric, and a paint brush.  Lay the sock cutout on top of the fabric and trace around it with a pencil or marker. Now cut it out with your scissors. Pour out some Mod Podge and apply it to the top of the cutout. While it's still wet lay the fabric cutout on top of the wet Mod Podge. Smooth it out and apply more Mod Podge over the fabric. Let it dry completely. I use a hair dryer to speed things along. Now it's time to paint. I used Antique White acrylic paint to do the top, heel, toe of the sock. When that is dry shade around those areas with Traditional Burnt Umber. Make the small stitch marks with a fine tip black marker. Now you can paint a design in the middle if you wish. I did a snowman face, stars, a Christmas tree, and a wreath. You could paint whatever you wish. You could also use a small stencil.  Drill a hole at the top and I used thin jute for hanging. It's a fun project and you could use any shape cutout you wish. Thanks and have fun crafting!!!!
